Tile comes in two choices: ceramic or porcelain. Ceramic is not recommended for areas that drop below freezing because the moisture absorption rate is > 0.5%. Porcelain on the other hand is suitable for both indoor and outdoor applications. Both ceramic and porcelain come with a glazed finish. Some porcelains are through body which means that the body of the tile is the same as the top of the tile. This adds dimensional stability and strength to the tile.
